Jenners is variable from department to department. The staff is more helpful and attentive in some but less in others. Jenners is getting cleaner and better organised but lightening is still the issue. You may walk around looking for a bright place to see the true colour of an item.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd been having a nightmare day trying to find a specific item. The womenswear staff took a lot of time to kindly assist me.
Jenners: get there before House of Fraser get it closed. It's an Edinburgh institution. A gorgeous old department store from the toys in the basement through the bored make-up counter staff who pack the ground floor up to whatever occult rituals occur on the top storey which nobody ever visits. If you need to buy someone a handbag or perfume and you don't want the contents of your wallet scraped out in their entirety by a snooty member of the Harvey Nicks staff then this is the place to go.
Beautiful old department store. I recommend entering through the back on Rose St to avoid the chaotic front cosmetic area. They have some wonderful brands from the UK, and a lovely restaurant and cafe. Great for gifts and souvenirs, however it is quite expensive. The Christmas decorations are amazing !
This lovely old fashioned store stocks excellent products. The layout is challenging for accessibility, with the position of escalators and lifts not clearly signed. There is a cafe and a restaurant as well as a food hall with Scottish and good quality Italian produce.
