A library that doesnt offer a study space open to public unless if you are registered. I just wanted to sit and write things.
The best place to study in Edinburgh! Its quiet, clean and has everything I need. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. I this place.
Prepare to be treated like a criminal the moment you walk in the door. I understand security but this is borderline abusive.
The grandeur and tradition of this place is a unique inspiration, culture and art are present and recorded in a very rich and comprehensive collection. The service of the place is great, despite the restrictions that exist to access the works, but even so, there are common spaces, accessible to all people.
Although this is a repository for serious researchers (registration required) don't be put off from entering this imposing building as both their permanent exhibition and regular temporary exhibitions are really worth seeing (and they're free!).There is a small cafe that sells sandwiches and cakes and a lovely gift shop with Scottish books and a small gift range. The NLS also hosts events and has regular educational 'how to research' type workshops. They have nice clean, accessible toilets.
