Me and my partner enjoy the Village hotels and have stayed in various locations on a number of occasions. Decent value for money, modern and food has always been decent too. Couple of things regarding this stay in Edinburgh.. food on the floor in the lift and lift floor was dodgy in need of repair.. Minor but we've experienced better with this chain.We had dinner in the restaurant on the Saturday night, food was good, Barry the restaurant manager was brilliant 5 out of 5 for him .
I liked this hotel. Nicely decorated, lovely bathroom. The bed was comfortable and there was a really good shower. Nice and quiet at night too. If you're a tea drinker like me, ask for extra milk at reception as we kept running out. The staff were very helpful and friendly and gave lots of info about the city and public transport. They even offer change at reception for buses which was handy. The pool was nice, big pool but it was very busy as it was a Saturday so there wasn't much room to swim. Plus I'd of preferred if the price of the pool was included in the room. It was 5 pound per room per day for the pool which wasn't too bad. If I was visiting Edinburgh again I would stay here.
It was ok! Clean, warm. A bit skimpy on the tea and coffee in the room. Easy to walk into the city centre. Not sure I would stay again but can't really put my finger on why!
We attended the family Hogmany party and had a fantastic time. The staff were all brilliant and the food was delicious. The hotel is decorated to a high standard, with a lovely atmosphere. The party had a good age range and was suited for younger kids as well as teenagers. Will definitely be back.
Room, clean, no problems, quiet. Could improve pillow quality. Gym, ideal, no problems, was able to train and swim which was nice after a day of shopping. Location, good, easily accessible by car, easy public transport into Edinburgh. Bar, could use some improvement, most of the staff on the bar didn't seem like they could serve anyone, you have a queue instead of waiting at the bar which is a bit of an inconvenience.
