Great place to visit for anyone interested in art. The gallery is split between two buildings. There is a reasonably priced cafe with variety hot meals and salads available and a decent choice of delicious cakes and treats. After visiting, you can have a walk along Water of Leith back to Dean Village and Stockbridge which is quite nice and picturesque.
Found it when walk on the Water of Leith walkway. Its located in the park, there 2 buildings and I just went Modern one. Lots of artworks there, creative and interesting designs, the backpack should be placed in front or take it by hand. Worth to go.2/1/2019
Liked bits of current exhibition, not all. Why do artists think I will take 2 hours out of my visit to watch a video? Scottish Bestiary best thing.
The exhibition is well staged and the tea room was fine. The contents of the exhibition we went to - imho - is mostly the emperor's new cloths. Is success as an artist (for some) simply the marketing to gain a reputation in spite of the evidence before peoples eyes? Else maybe the well staged exhibits are an incomplete body of work and omit the content that created enough repetition to be worthy of being exhibited?
Great place for kids. Took mine, ages 6 and 8 and they loved it. Lots of fun art for them to look at, then an activity run when they get inspired, and large outdoor area when they need to run. The cafe food is fantastic.
