Beautiful building. I'm.not an art lover, but some of the sculptures and portraits are wonderful to look at close. There's also loads of historical detail and biographies of the subjects. The temporary exhibition for the BP Award was very interesting. A great visit.

Just wow. One of our national treasures. Incredible architecture, absolutely bursting with incredible artwork and history. Absolutely a must see in the Capital!! Give yourself at least half a day. You could easily spend days though! Amazing

A beautiful building, not long restored to its former glory, just on the North East corner of the New Town. The art was interesting, without being exciting and there were the usual explanations alongside each picture. This is somewhere crying out for a written booklet to guide you through the pictures and the associated pictures. Lovely, helpful staff.

I visited this pplace over 5 years ago and was glad to return. It has the best gallery staff I have encountered anywhere. They are welcoming, friendly and helpful and add to the visitor's experience (in stark contrast, I might add, to those at the National Gallery of Scotland). The collection is impressive and well displayed. I especially enjoyed the third floor, perhaps because of my interest in history. One painting captured my attention far above all others however. It is exceptionally powerful and brilliant art. It is titled Three Oncologists by Ken Currie. I think Currie has captured quite a lot in this. This is a gallery I will revisit and I definitely won't leave it for five years.

Free entrance to a lovely, huge collection of paintings from Scotland and beyond. Beautiful building, both on the inside and on the outside. The staff is also very polite. You cant miss it! There are also temporary exhibitions, which are well curated and usually breathtaking. I simply love this place, its something you should definitely visit if you come to Edinburgh.
