If you think the Chinese Embassy is unhelpful wait till you try the British one abroad!!!! I deal with them every 6 months and they couldn't have been more helpful

Ridiculous that it is only open twice a week. They forgot to ask for one of my documents so I had to walk the 45 minutes back and ended up missing my train.

Although they never answered my numerous phone calls, they were open for my Legalization application and dealt with it efficiently. What you need to take are the original apostled docs with photocopies. Colour passport photocopy for owner of docs. Your passport and colour photocopy if you are doing this for someone else. They give you the form to complete as the current online form is now defunct.

I've been calling their number for nearly 3 hours continuously. They simply won't answer it. The website information is indelibly inconclusive. There's no way I'm travelling all the way to Edinburgh to be given a racist death stare.China has the biggest economy in the world, can't they afford another telephone?

After travelling for 3 hours to submit documents for their legalisation services, I was told quite frankly (in the space of 5 seconds) that I had to go to Manchester to submit the documents. No "sorry", no discussion or help, just a blank stare as if I was taking up her time. This information wasn't available on the website, nor was there a contact number to reach someone for the info. The embassies / Consulate Generals, in their wisdom, don't use the postal service that we've used for 100 years. So the 6 hour round-trip journey for 5 seconds of her time was an absolute waste of time.
